Allied Professionals

The following health care professionals are employed by the ABMU Health Board but are attached to the Practice.

Health Visitors

Health Visitors are qualified nurses who have had specialist training in infant and child care; they are also involved in the care of elderly patients and are able to give advice on health promotion and any social problems you may have. The Health Visitors can be contacted on (01792) 455696 during normal office hours.

District Nurses

The District Nurses are no longer based at the surgery but they still work closely with the doctors and make home visits to house-bound patients, chronically sick patients and patients recently discharged from hospital.

The District Nurse Team can be contacted at the “Hub” on (01792) 530790.

Community Midwife

This specially trained professional provide personal care for all pregnant women before, during and after delivery.

Patients in the Practice are cared for by the Fforest Team. Each patient has her own midwife during pregnancy and either she or a member of the team will come to the hospital and may deliver the baby. Patients can also discuss the option of home delivery with the midwife. The community midwife can be contacted on 07766 466891 (24/7)

Mental Health Liaison Nurse

A MHLN is in the surgery on Tuesdays and provides an assessment of needs and brief interventions for patients as well as being their link to the ABMU Health Board Mental Health teams, voluntary services and community organisations.
